ISSUE 2 – COMMODITY
Last year, we wanted to make a statement. This year, we want to leave a legacy.
Often, the human body is used as a means for profit. We are raised to be commodified, in the way we speak, dress, and act.
COMMODITY calls attention to this system of objectification and human consumption. Through our articles surrounding voyeurism, fetishization, and dehumanization, we unpack this theme through different lenses. Our featured photography reflects the constructs of consumption and beauty.

ISSUE 1 – DECLARATION
Historically, the existence of minorities in America has been seen as illicit. Our natural features seen as vulgar. Our authenticity rebranded as criminal. Our existence painted a Scandal.
People of color have been silenced, unable to: (a) speak or write with intense or hysterical emotions, (b) protest, demand, complain vehemently, or (c) laugh hysterically. Unable to SCREAM.
For our first issue, we want to make a statement. DECLARATION is about taking control of our autonomy as students of color at a predominantly white institution. In our subthemes Scandal and Scream, we dive further into our statement. Scandal explores the perceived vulgarity of minorities in America. Scream demonstrates the boldness that is inherent to authenticity.
