For Elevate’s first issue, we wanted to make a statement. 

DECLARATION is about taking control of our autonomy as students of color at a predominantly white institution. In our subthemes Scandal and Scream, we dive further into our statement. Scandal explores the perceived vulgarity of minorities in America. Scream demonstrates the boldness that is inherent to authenticity.
